📖 What is an Ex-Dividend Date?

The ex-dividend date is the cutoff date to receive the next dividend payment. To receive the dividend, you must own the stock before the ex-dividend date.

Key Rule: Buy at least 1 business day before the ex-dividend date to qualify for the dividend.

Example: If the ex-dividend date is March 15th, you must own the stock by market close on March 14th.
